I inform my clients if they are coloring their hair to do so 2 weeks before the locking session. Clients are asked to refrain from color treating their hair for at least one year. In some cases, a client may be asked to wait longer, if their locs have yet to mature. Coloring prematurely can cause excessive dryness, slippage and breakage.

Establishments for Sisterlocks™ start at $1200 and Mircolocks start at $900 and increase based upon length and density. An in-person consultation is required.

Sisterlocks™ is a trademarked System of hair maintenance which should only be provided by specially trained personnel holding the credential of either Sisterlocks™ Trainee or Certified Sisterlock™ Consultant. A patented Sisterlock™ tool is used for the initial service and all continued maintenance. There is a patented grid and algorithm of locs based on hair texture and density. ​In contrast, Microlocks are not held to the same rigid specifications. "MICRO" refers to the fact that these locs are smaller than traditional. The Client and Loctician work together to agree upon a size which meets the needs of the client. Scheduling an in-person consultation is the best way to decide which option would be most ideal for you. ​ I approach microlocks as I do Sisterlocks™. I establish them using the interlocking method.
